Victoria Park is undergoing several major enhancements resulting from Council and third party investment in park facilities as well as from extensive preparations for hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games bowls events.

When the Covid situation improves, the park will resume as the site of various popular events.

The contract for investing £300k to “create an exciting and bespoke play space to replace the existing facility” has been awarded to Kompan after a small team of evaluators, including one from the Friends, assessed detailed proposals from four expert companies.

On site installation has been delayed until autumn 2021 with launch of the new facility now planned for Spring/Summer 2022.

In preparation, the play area has been extended slightly and will be protected by low fencing.

Thanks largely to third party donors, new outdoor gym equipment is to be introduced into the park (between the skatepark and Princes Drive) in April 2021.

Warwick District Council are implementing several other improvements to the bowling greens, the bowls and tennis pavilions, and Princes Drive car park. The Old Tennis Courts area of the park – continuing as an area for informal parking by park users and bowlers - is to be resurfaced to eliminate potholes.

The National Bowls Championships are now scheduled to resume in 2021, with events running from 7 August to 5 September.

Details of the operational management of the 2022 Commonwealth Games competitions, which are expected to attract many thousands of visitors, will be announced nearer the time.

High profile events like the annual Santa Dash and the Fake Festival are arranged by individual organisers and Warwick District Council.

The Friends occasionally organise their own lower key events like a summer holiday picnic. If you are interested in running this sort of event, please contact us.
